  • Get Mercurial running on MediaTemple

    I just spent the better part of 2 hours trying to install Mercurial on my MediaTemple (gs) to be able to push and pull from my own server, so I’m going to share exactly how to etch out the freaking bug in the (my) process.

For only having been doing this for a year….. BOOOOOOM!

PS: sunnycyl, I got your post card while ago and I am really sorry I haven’t said thank you yet, so thank you for that. I’ve been really busy working on this little project of mine and I just wanted to let you know that I feel really freakin’ lucky to have gotten such a sweet photo of yours as a handmade post card. I really owe you a long email. Sorry…. Forgive me?

  • Lessn and Tweetie

    For those of you using Shaun Inman’s Lessn, a personal url shortener, and Tweetie 2.0 on your iPhone, I’ve come up with a bookmarklet and some code that let’s you shorten a url with your Lessn installation, then have Tweetie open up a new status update containing the newly shortened url.

  • Changing Tumblr’s Audio Player Color

    For those of you who want to, I’m about to show you a way to change your audio player to any color you want.

    First you need to pick out a color. I suggest using ColorPicker. You only need the six number/letter combination which does not include the #. For example, if you wanted #45D7DD to be your color, you would use 45D7DD.

    Next, you need to go to your theme and find the {AudioPlayer...} tag. It could be {AudioPlayerBlack} or {AudioPlayerWhite} or whatever. Just find it. Your going to replace that with this:

    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="http://assets.tumblr.com/javascript/tumblelog.js?7"></script>
    <span id="audio_player_{PostID}">[<a href="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" target="_blank">Flash 9</a> is required to listen to audio.]</span>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/api/read/json?id={PostID}"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        var color = "your_color_here";
        var player = tumblr_api_read['posts'][0]['audio-player'].replace("color=FFFFFF", "color=" + color);
        replaceIfFlash(9, "audio_player_{PostID}", player);
    </script>

    Of course, you’d replace your_color_here with the color you got from ColorPicker (without the # sign). Then save your theme and that’s it. It should work.

    Edit: You’ll get a warning every time you try and post some audio that says your theme is not set up for audio, but don’t worry… you’re theme is as set up as anybody else’s.
